HP killing Slate project paves the way for Palm WebOS to become HP's tablet OS.

HP has killed off it's much anticipated Slate project that was expected to utilize the Windows 7 OS.  Initial accounts of the device cited that the Slate running Windows 7 OS functioned too much like a netbook without a keyboard.  Tighter integration of Palm WebOS with HP's Slate could be the answer.  For now, we'll just have to wait and see.

HP's Slate Device Demo

The HP Slate will be out soon enough and it will be running Windows 7.  In this short and brief video clip, HP touts the Slate's Flash support and it's camera with video and videoconferencing support via Skype.  No matter how great the HP Slate could be, it already finds itself fighting an uphill battle after an extremely successful weekend for Apple that saw Apple sell over 300K iPads and receive over 1M App downloads and 250k iBook downloads.
