Not everyone is excited about the new Droid device hitting shelves in November for Verizon Wireless. Above is a little spoof video that a group of pro-iPhone Users have started to circulate across YouTube. Apple denies any affiliation with this video. Despite large marketing efforts by Verizon Wireless and Google, industry experts are still skeptical of yet another ‘iPhone-killer’ device. In a recent AdAge article, wireless analyst Chetan Sharma said, “There is a graveyard littered with iPhone wannabees, so the bar is pretty high for any new phone, no matter how good it might be”. No matter how great the device is and how great the Verizon network is, Apple’s 100K App store will make it difficult for any competitor to compete. Below is the original Droid video from Verizon Wireless that started popping up during the MLB playoffs last week.
LocaFollow

Twitter has always had a decent search experience, but searching for users in a location has always been a challenge. Locafollow provides you with an easy to use interface to quickly find local Twitter users by searching through their Twitter bios.
I’m a big fan of Frog Design’s recently launched iPhone App called tvChatter which makes watching television social. Most consumers are already tweeting/facebooking/chatting on their laptops while watching television, so Frog did a logical thing by continuing to enable that behavior, but they made it dead simple to continue doing this. This nicely designed and compact app simplifies and categorizes real-time twitter commentary in an iPhone App based off of the social program guide. Check out the demo of tvChatter that I scraped from YouTube. The demo walks you through the basic features and special options for the app. Users can watch their favorite shows on their TVs or PCs while tvChatter presents real time Twitter-fueled commentary about the program. Users that have a Twitter account can post their own comments, reply to others or filter their followers for a more intimate conversation.
Bravo Frog. Simple concept, well executed, and super useful.
10/GUI

10/GUI from C. Miller on Vimeo.
From the site, “Over a quarter-century ago, Xerox introduced the modern graphical user interface paradigm we today take for granted. That it has endured is a testament to the genius of its design. But the industry is now at a crossroads: New technologies promise higher-bandwidth interaction, but have yet to find a truly viable implementation. 10/GUI aims to bridge this gap by rethinking the desktop to leverage technology in an intuitive and powerful way. This video examines the benefits and limitations inherent in current mouse-based and window-oriented interfaces, the problems facing other potential solutions, and visualizes a completely new way of interacting with desktop computers.”
DDB Stockholm recently launched a campaign for VW called Rolighetsterorin, or “The Fun Theory”. The campaign was launched to encourage people to change their behavior and encourage them to drive environmentally friendly cars by allowing them to see the fun side of acting responsibly. The campaign creators believed that the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better is by making it fun to do.
