Damon Dash’s Creative Control TV.

I’ve been really digging Damon Dash’s CREATIVECONTROL.TV project.  It’s an online content label based on the fundamental idea of maintaining creative control over all content and production from programming to advertising.  As more alternatives to television go online, hopefully we’ll continue to see more quality programming that can introduce the world to cutting edge fashion, music, and art.  For now, check out this video from Curren$y.

Sneaker Mirror: Interactive Mosaic

Sneaker Mirror from Jesse Chorng on Vimeo.

I found this linky link on PSFK.com. Sneaker Mirror is an interactive installation created using the Processing programming language which uses mini sneaker images as pixels to create a mirror reflection of those standing in front of the installed camera. Since the camera picks up on any movement, the installation dynamically changes as folks move around in front of it.

Street Peeper Relaunch – Global Street Fashion

streetpeeper

StreetPeeper.com, the global street fashion blog that has featured some of the best street style from cities like New York, Berlin, Paris, London, Tokyo, and more for the past two years is re-launching it’s site and they’re throwing a big ‘ole party in NYC to celebrate on February 16th @ the Tribeca Grand Hotel. Do a Facebook search for ‘StreetPeeper Party’ to view all of the details. For all the e-Commerce designers out there, StreetPeeper’s site offers lots of insights into how users prefer to view clothing, by outfits. The coolest feature of StreetPeeper is that all of the photos are tagged by brand so you can tell exactly what everyone is wearing. You can also filter by brand and see how other people around the world are rocking that brand. It’s definitely a time-waster as you could spend hours browsing through all of the various style combinations.

Writing on the Wall, a BMX movie by Nike 6.0

[via the Nike 6.0 site]
The four-man crew of Garrett Reynolds, Dennis Enarson, Nigel Sylvester, and Mike Spinner spent over a year living out of suitcases to film the first Nike 6.0 BMX movie, Writing on the Wall. From 4-wheelin’ to 4-star, ditches to public parks, the 6.0 crew scoured the corners of the Earth to discover the undiscovered and lay down new lines. Battling school calendars, narcolepsy, ridiculous competition schedules, and border patrol; the crew rallied to capture amazing riding. Writing on the Wall showcases the distinct style of each rider, from Nigel’s street skills to Spinner’s technical prowess; from Dennis who rides anything at any time, to Garrett’s assault on cities around the world. The 6.0 crew represents the next generation of riders driving the progression of BMX. Enjoy the tour, as one of today’s most diverse BMX teams travels to Beijing, Dubai, Barcelona, NYC, Australia, and more.

Poster Boy brings you Subway Poster Hacking

[from Trend Central]
It’s not often that you see innovation that takes street art beyond Krylon, scratchitti, ink markers, and wheat paste. However, over the past year, NYC subway riders have been taking note of a growing number of underground platform ads that have been cut and paste to create new signs, often with humorous or political messages; for example, a McDonald’s ad was changed to read “McDorse The World” and an Indiana Jones poster became “Indians R Gone.” The movement is being inspired by an incognito artist, known simply as Poster Boy, who posts his work on Flickr and is encouraging others to take up the medium and claim the Poster Boy moniker as well. While aerosol taggers in the ’80s had to get their word out via subway cars that traversed the burroughs, because of digital cameras and the popularity of photo sharing we could see this new form of self expression becoming influential on a global scale in no time.

Michael Jordan was a sick motherf*&ker

Growing up and being a Knicks fan my entire life, I never was able to love and embrace the greatness of Michael Jordan. He killed us year after year after year, so instead of developing a fondness for him, I developed a deep seeded hate for the man. However, underneath the hate, I always did believe that Jordan was the greatest basketball player to ever play the game. Well, many years later, it looks like I might be softening my stance towards Jordan since I’m giving him some love on my blog. But, goddamn this video of him playing in Italy in ‘86 is just too f*&king sick. I’m glad he’s retired and done haunting my ass.

Laker Kobe Bryant Jumps Over Ashton Martin

This video premiered a few days ago on TNT and it’s already surpassed the 1.4 million views mark. It definitely smells like a marketing driven green screen viral video and even though I know that I still think it’s a sweet video. Keep an eye on the stats for this video, it’s definitely going to blow up like the original Nike YouTube Ronaldhino viral video.

samsung-adidas-f110-micoach.jpg

It looks like Samsung and Adidas couldn’t just stand idly-by as Nike & Apple scooped up all of the consumers within the fitness meets gadgets meets training landscape. The phone is capable of serving up heart rate, distance run, calories burned and running time data as long as the pedometer and heart-rate monitor are connected. Sneaker Freaker Best of 2007

sneakerfreaker.jpg

Check out the best of the Class of 2007 presented by the folks over at Sneaker Freaker. In a year ripe full of sneaker new releases bought to the marketplace it looks like Nike is once again dominating the game with a sprinkling of a few hot pieces by Adidas and Puma. Clae cracked the list as well which definitely put a smile of my face. The list was a compilation of picks from the usual sneaker culture taste makers such as Claw Money, Bobbito, and Thomas from Overkill.

KicksOnFire.com

In it’s first year of existence, KicksOnFire.com has managed to carve out a nice Sneakerhead audience in a space already crowded with the likes of Freshnessmag and Hypebeast. However, with it’s daily updated content and extreme focus on just kicks, KicksOnFire is becoming the pre-eminent online destination for the finicky sneaker collectors out there. In just under one year, the site has grown deep with information and is establishing itself as an online encyclopedia for the Jordan, Air Max, Dunk, AF1, and Nike SB collectors out there. I just recently spent a few hours on the site and scraped a wealth of images into my PictoBrowser widget. Check out the visuals here, but make sure you visit KicksOnFire for the full behind the scenes scoop.
